Interim Shelter for Urban Homeless

The Interim Shelter for Urban Homeless provides free, secure accommodation for homeless men, women, children, and the elderly in partnership with the Government of West Bengal and Kolkata Municipal Corporation. It serves individuals who are homeless due to various reasons, including those sleeping in public spaces or working in unsafe conditions such as tea shops, construction sites, and railway platforms. The shelter also accommodates individuals referred by local authorities, such as the police or community leaders.

The shelter offers 24-hour security, access to safe drinking water, proper sanitation, and basic necessities such as bedrolls, blankets, and pillows. It also provides first aid, entertainment options like television and indoor games. Emergency referral services, along with counselling, advocacy, and rehabilitation support, are available to help individuals rebuild their lives and reintegrate into society with dignity.
